Choosing Again

Sometimes it's finally admitting that the person you are today has information the person who made the original decision didn't have.

Open Reflection

Perhaps one of the most compassionate forms of strength is allowing ourselves to choose again.

We change.

Circumstances change.

Information changes.

What once served us may stop serving us.

Yet we can remain loyal to old decisions simply because we made them.

We worry that changing our minds means we failed, were inconsistent, or should have known better.

But emotional intelligence isn't the ability to always get the decision right the first time.

It includes the capacity to notice what is happening now, integrate what we've learned, and respond accordingly.

Choosing again isn't automatically quitting.

Sometimes it's correction.

Sometimes it's maturity.

Sometimes it's finally admitting that the person you are today has information the person who made the original decision didn't have.

Your previous choice deserves understanding.

Your present self deserves a voice too.

Truth Check-In

What are you continuing primarily because you already started?

Where might loyalty to an old decision be competing with what you now know?

SPARK Question

Knowing what I know today, would I still make the same choice?

Ignite Prompt

Return to one meaningful decision you've made this year.

Ask yourself:

What did I know then?

What do I know now?

What does that new awareness invite me to choose?

You don't have to change the decision. The practice is simply giving yourself permission to honestly reconsider it.

Mini Mantra

New awareness gives me permission to choose again.

Use This SPARK When...

  • ...you've outgrown an old decision.

  • ...new information changes what you know.

  • ...you're staying because leaving feels inconsistent.

  • ...your inner voice is asking for reconsideration.

Weekly Alignment Action

Revisit one decision you made earlier this year. Decide intentionally whether to continue it, adjust it, or release it—and name why.
